keithm
Not sure if anyone can help, but I'll ask anyway. I have a new key, supplied by BMW, for my wifes 2006 X3, but it needs programming. Apparently it's simple and it takes a few minutes to do, but we're unaware of the procedure. So my question is, do any of you guys know the procedure, please pm me if needs be. The dealer has proved to be useless in their after sales service and will not get a penny piece out of me again Thank you in advance Keith
Count Muppet
found this after a quick search but this seems to programme the remote and i assume you want to programme the immobiliser. i hope this helps anyway. http://www.programyourkeys.com/BMW_X3_K ... mming.html

Lee
My AD book states the x3 can only be programmed by the dealer. Lee
extremesecurity
I would think it is dealer only and i bet they dont charge a lot just to code a key, i know VW charge around £40 John
lockdecoders
Key is already coded. Just hold key in ign in starter position on and after 3 seconds car will start.

Thanks Pete, but the one thing the dealer said was that it didn't take long, but it was 'a procedure' and he could talk my wife through it Whilst I wouldn't doubt you, if it was just a case of, put in ignition and turn after 3 seconds, that sounds pretty much what you do with most cars when you get in them anyway? lockdecoders
I am correct. The remote needs to be coded and this is manual.
keithm
I am correct. The remote needs to be coded and this is manual. Ok, ok, call me stupid. So there's two procedures, turn to 'on' wait three seconds and start car, all good. Then programme remote as per first post on this thread? lockdecoders
Ign to pos 1 x 3 and then push and hold centre button and at the same time push the unlock button x3 and release and the door locks will cycle.
keithm
Unfortunately didn't work. We can start car but buttons do not operate locks at all back to BMW me finks and let the miserable sods sort it. I was hoping to avoid the nasties, but heh ho.! Auto Key Wizard
Has this key been ordered from BMW & been shipped from Germany? As already stated, BMW keys work right out of the bag for Immo, but remote needs synchronising.
keithm
Has this key been ordered from BMW & been shipped from Germany? As already stated, BMW keys work right out of the bag for Immo, but remote needs synchronising. Key supplied bt BMW dealer ( Elms of Bedford) Salesman is a jerk and unhelpful, thus my post here. Key starts car no probs, but the process described will not cycle locks. Mind you, I have'nt tried the remote process on first post, might this be an option? lockdecoders
Make sure when you do it that the 1st remote you try is the new one and not the original.
