Hi Everyone

Im looking at getting a cut to code machine for cylinder and laser keys only for auto work, ive been looking at the Miracle and the Chaka Bay i know they havnt been out long but was wondering if who ever has got them could let me know what they think of them. I know the Miracle will decode where the Chaka Bay is only cut to code. But i have manual machines on the van so this is not a big concern to me.

Thanks

John

i do employ staff u cant run 2 shops and a vans on your own. but this machine and petes machines fault has been discussed on other forums before i ordered mine as i will only use it in my van i wasnt bothered and cant keep lifting the shop computersised key machine in and out the van as when i am out on calls the shop needs it.it has an emergancy stop button so is safe for staff to use. and as they say you get what u pay for and these machines are half the price of others on th market.

I've got a A5 and very impressed and great help from Peter, the decoding is handy for worn keys and the software is very easy to use and decodes and cut quite quickly, I'm still learning to use the machine and do lost keys jobs I've done about 10 jobs with it so far and every key has worked first time no problems

good post bob =D>

a lot of cheap machines dont take into account user saftey.

Craig as long as you use the machine you will be ok. 8)

again we have a cheap machine that does not protect the end user

I have to admit that for front runners in their field hickleys should be embarresed at trying to sell this machine but the market place dictates and hickleys obviously have decided to run with it.

it sort of negates "their" ethos on cheap imported copies? :-{{{

:-#

carry on!

I haven't seen a Chaka up close but the A5 the lid has a switch which when opened on cutting turns off and the lid doesn't cover the top and you can get to the stop button, I know there was a lower model miracle range like the Chaka but I think they decided that it was not worth doing

Well done for pointing the flaw out - in the USA you can buy 'stop' switches that the mains cable passes through - you can site them anywhere but with woodworking machines nearly always at knee height - maybe that is a simple first aid solution if you have staff.

The second solution would be to fit a seperate circuit in your shop for machines all with stop buttons around the walls or benches then anyone can cut the power if they see a dangerour situation.

I think a major point rob is trying to point out is the health and safety issue and how dangerous a machine can be if it isn't

operating to stringent safety codes.

I would follow micks idea of having a seperate feed switch, but it raises issues about the quality of the machine if something

this fundamental can be allowed on any machine for sale in the uk.

True but none of my silca machines have stop switches just rocker switches on the back, My grinder/wire brush in fact nothing I have that is key orientated

now the table saw/router table/bandsaw etc have stop switches?

It is costly to fit a dedicated circuit but they can have the stop buttons anywhere so even in your office if you see staff about to get sucked into the key machine 'STOP' works on a 12 or 24V circuit tripping a circuit breaker.

Certainly in the locksmiths shop H&S and Electric safety are not prime factors

STOP STOP STOP STOP LETS TALK MACHINES

well john i did recomend the viper but at a lower price and a smaller lighter machine i am sure u will end up with the chaka bay like me.and i know pete will read this so just to let u know i have sorted it and i can get my eeprom modules for th ad900 and keycrypt pro from a reliable source now and wont need to ever call u again and cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Its actually very rare for us to have to edit a topics content (only a hand full of time in the time the forum has been running) But this topic had considerable sections which contravened the sites Terms & Conditions. Normally we would delete a topic if it got out of hand, as this one did. However as this raises safety concerns which may be of consideration when buying machinery we have edited down the content & reinstated it.

Should it go off topic again, we will permanently remove it. If any member is not happy with the decision please phone me on 01502 561333 & I will exlain the publication laws & reasons behind the moderating.

The viper is a good machine ,but I wouldn,t want to carry it to my van ,I do find I have to put the VW keys through twice though & I have calibrated everything .It works well with insta code with the show key function before its cut helps ,it makes sure it has read the key correctly.

In answer to the original post (remember that?), I can highly recommend the Miracle machine from Lockdecoders. I looked at buying the Chaka Bay machine at a saving of nearly a grand, but I'm glad I dug deep and chose the Miracle.

The PDA is not just a gimmick, it's how I operate the machine most of the time. The Pocket Codemaster software on it is really handy for reference, and previews the key before it's cut.

I have received excellent service and advice from Peter at Lockdecoders, and I am willng to demo the machine to anyone in the Central Area of Scotland iincluding Glasgow and Edinburgh areas. Anyone further away can call and arrange to meet.

This is a must have machine for any auto locksmith, and look forward to trying out the tibbe attachment that has just been released.

My mobile number is 07855 396 445

Hope this helps you John, call me if you want more feedback.

For that grand you could buy the full Instacode which has also opening instructions as well as codes and previews of the keys cut!

john and i both have full version of instacode thats one of the reasons the chaka bay suited me but he is still considering both. its a bit like when someone has to decide ad900 or zed bull not much between them eitheir but expensive to buy both.

With the Chaka bay do you still have to use instacode to get the bitting? If you do I don't see the point you still have to get it with both just the a5 has the ability to decode keys aswell and for saying the viper is over 6 grand and I woudnt use half of the keys it cuts as I only do auto work
