Rizla
No No No.... just space rental for this guy. 4yrs ago I asked him the same question in he replied.. £5.00 Do you ever get those days (customers) that throw a £1.20 artical at you and ask for the price of engraving 20-30 characters and you tel 'em,? Only to have them say "F*%k that I'use a nail? And I am quoting here seriously! Befor the BIG "R" I used to love it when my skills made 'em cry big tears... Female & Male.. all my design's, words Etc. All I do is personalise in one way or another and used to love it... The big "R" is killing me. One fancy youg blonde presented me with a Pint Pot that probably cost £2.00 and wanted a name engraved upon it.... When I told her £15 she used the F word. I told her the cost of the engraving machine and again used the F word.... So, Ok................ Im down, ranting, looking for solace.... need a cuddle ;_))))))

Rizla
Ok, point taken.... I had a bad day at the hospital and one or three John Smiths. Just to make it a little more clear the ref. to big "R" meant recession! For me, I know I am in the wrong place (Indoor Market) and the clientele are on a very limmited budget. I'll start again and keep it simple: 1) What is your fee for engraving a Zippo (supplied by them) whith say "Peter" 2) What is your fee for engraving " Happy 21st Love Mum & Dad" on a pewter tankard (supplied by them. 3) And a glass with "David" Just represent's what I have been asked in the las week.... That's it! No glue..... Rizla

ANDY
we all need to calm it down why not get rid of your set up charge and pennies per letter and tweak your prices all the customer sees is the price going up before their eyes "hello sir how much for this glass to be engraved?" "right....so thats £6.00 set up plus..un, ow, ee, or, n, n, n, 30 letters at 20p plus engraving the glass at £15.00 tippity tappity that will be £27.00 sir" "27 quid, feck me it only came from asda mate" also think of the time you will save counting and calculating cost you will always get the "how much" brigade, suck it up son and move on with the time you save working things out you will be free to work magic 1. zippo "it's a present you say? let me show you how a nice gift box with fuel and flints would look" 2. pewter "see how nice this looks in a presentation box sir/madam, it's silk lined you know" 3. glass " just david? look at this sample with a posh logo on it, looks much nicer "
Michael
TAKE A SEAT!! £16.50 £21.00 £22.50 Am I overpriced or are you all undervaluing your services??? I get no more complaints than anyone else I know the Timpsons 5 shops away from me charge £10 set up and £1 per letter, anything over about 8 letters and I'm cheaper
StevenB
I charge a set up fee, plus amount per word (not per letter, less counting! ), but I have a price list under the till with a grid on it showing the total price for all jobs of between 1 & 30 words (for both standard & same day pricings). That covers most options & it generally only takes a glance to see how many words are to be engraved & I can then give a total price without all the fuss of counting letters & lengthy calculations.
