Attaching Stiletto Heels?

Recommended Posts

I will probably be looking for someone who can attach stiletto heel blocks for me before too long. I'm making several pairs of flats at the moment but I want to make myself a nice pair of heels too. Anyone out there with an attacher who can do it for a reasonable price?

I tried that with a pair at college and ended up taking a tumble when it sheared off. Luckily there was a repairer nearby with an attacher.

I did have an idea of poking them through the seat put the shoe on a metal poster and hammering the heel block on...

Another idea was a half inch length of angle iron down the breast of the heel (cut a groove) then use screws and epoxy glue. The angle iron might help the shank too...

I have just taken a pair of heels off a pair of OTK boots that a cobbler botched up a few years ago and they were screwed on. Very secure but the heels he used were fugly and kicked under too much. I'm replacing them with a pair of nice stiletto blocks from Colledge's.

What sort of screws should I used? Tried wood screws but they didn't seem to bite very well. Going to try self tappers next, what do you guys think?
