Gray
Brilliant, Do you think they just think of us retailers as mugs and we just don't notice stuff. Anyway I think Caroline had a look at this post and probably needs overnight to think of an answer which will probably begin with "I am sorry"
cobbler2u
Caroline Seems you have lost the support from the people that made your business what it is today. As I said before you have taken your eye of the ball. As Retailers we know the value of customer and keeping our customers happy. Maybe you should go back on the shop floor to remind you. Shoe String
This post has had a reply but not sure why it didn't post. The RSP for shoe cream is £4.99 buying price.... (edited by Mod trade prices for trade section) We spend a lot of time surveying the internet to make sure sellers do not go under the retail High Street which damages the brand and the High Street retailers. We contract out Amazon but the guy doing this knows the policy, to police a price match is set up so we match a retailer on the site, this way we know if it falls below recommended not immediately but eventually, we can then take steps to do something about it and stop the supply of product. We cannot make retailers charge carriage on top it is against trading standards. We do our best to make sure the product is never under sold by Supermarkets or the internet. Lee
well I'm happy enough with them! I like the chats on the phone, I like the fact I can now tack odds & ends onto wholesale orders & I like the fact I can chat with the person at the helm. hibsjo(SCO)
just an obvious observation here, if its the price you say it is to the retailer surely he can fix his own price and not be told what it is (price fixing is against the law) by yourselves? £4.99 for a jar of polish im too cheap carry on! grahamparker
Agree with Hibs, with your own words you have stated that you as a company are prepared to do this.(price fix) As long as we all buy at the same nett cost then if some idiot wants to make a penny on each item then good luck to them. The real issue is when wholesalers decide to have a retail outlet on the net and this can quickly cause major issues. There has been a big fight going on over safe pricing and the internet from a lot of retailers (including mla members) and the wholesalers for quite some time now. There are a few who will not sell direct at ridiculous discounted prices but there are still some who will. If your sales start to drop because of this then look at using someone else or changing your product range.
Gray
Sadly wholesalers are no longer what their name implies "the sale of goods in quantity, as to retailers or jobbers, for resale" They have jumped on the greedy bandwagon.
Shoe String
Hi Guys I am sorry you feel this way, as a result of previous posts we contracted out the rest of the internet with ourselves distributing. I have worked long and hard for the trade and still do. The trade is a passion for me and it upsets me that you think otherwise, you obviously have no idea how much I give to the trade and it is not in my nature to win Brownie points so it is for me to know. The internet is a growing animal and we make sure RSP prices are adhered to when other brands are all over the place, what you are saying is you prefer us not to bother and continue with supplying the internet retailers that had our products for £3 because we make a profit and they don't and not to protect you guys. I can't win and truly I don't want too, this trade is my life and that is why I am still online at this hour, I love you guys and my competitors on Cutting Edge its a unique trade. You obviously think I am out to damn you but nothing could be further from the truth and those who know me know nothing is further from the truth. I close this discussion. Mike at Vauxhall
This shoestring/birch thing has been a godsend in my opinion. Before it was a bit difficult to spend £100 just on insoles and laces. Now I can buy these plus, some umbrellas, belts keys etc. It is very easy to spend £100 pounds now. I have found the charles birch staff friendly and helpful. I did not have any dealings with birch before. It is a changing business environment and companies have to change with the times, I certainly don't mind them selling direct to the public ( the internet is full of prices I can't/ won't and don't compete with.) Mike at Vauxhall
I would always wish anyone the best of luck with any business venture. But its a bit optimistic of you to think mainly british based shoe repairers are going to buy from the US at retail prices when they can get wholesale prices from lots of british based wholesalers. hibsjo(SCO)
heres a thought on your retail site Caroline you could incorporate a click and collect at your nearest stockist (us) and we can distribute the laces and you can send out replacements to us . this sounds daft, but we have already lost the sale if they are looking online but might gain another sale while they are in our shops Havent a clue how you would do it you still get your money you still have to post out to us the replacement and this could be done at the end of the month instead of every day as i said just a thought carry on!
