Reheel suggestions.

Hi, just before I do what I think is best way to fit a top piece to these Journal shoes, what would you suggest? In case pic is unclear, it is a d shaped tube in the heel.

If its the ones i'm thinking of then i have actually filled with wooden dowels/pegs and then nailed on as normal.

If it were me, I would fill the hole, securely stick the top piece on & then pop in 2 or 3 pins to secure it.

Fill the hole with a dowel, drill out the dowel slightly smaller than a .120 pin and fit a PU. You could put a tiny drop of superglue on the pin. Be careful it doesn't go on the heel cover.

As above but i would insert a 120 pin tube so they can be repaired again quite easily in future and it would give more strength to the heel.

And that's the great thing about the forum, I wouldn't have thought if inserting a tube to fit a PU top. Next time I see one of these, I'll give it a go!

2 part epoxy resin from local pound shop mix it fill hole fit tube allow to dry 10 mins max and then fit pu heel job done

Thanks for replies. My repair would have been dowling and pinning, but the dowling and tube sounds a good idea. More ways to skin a cat as they say.
