maybe so peter but given the choice i woild go for the leather every time

Me too, but progress has to be made, if it is progress, you dont get bits fyling off a leather pad.

Leather Pads though are of no use on Acrylic Water based colouring agents that the manufacturers whish us to persue, hence the Linen/Fabric Mops/Brushes.

As Pete has said, there is no choice if you want leather :? Linen pads are better imho, they offer a little more 'flex' for 'pading' heel blocks which gives a better finish :D

If a hard wax is used such as Astral then a linen pad will tend to remove most of the wax in one direction, Leather pads burnish the wax into the built block then to be polished up on the brushes.

However this does not work on rigid PVC blocks or others that are man made. Leather pads were made for a technique that is not to frequently used in todays marketplace.

Personally I would go for linen, hated using the leather pads as I had many friction burns from them, but for competition work Pads come out tops every time.

Why you do surprise me dear boy, I thought you all new how to make your own.

While we are on the subject there is no reason other than profit on this one product that stops all the shoe polish manufacturers from making there own version.

If the demand and sales are there they will make it...go on pester them, but all of you must choose the same manufacturer.

I know Meltonian used to have the facilities to break down a product into its various components. but does the company still exist.
