Shoe Repairer Forum

Recommended Posts

Over the last few years I have been getting in some quality shoes for repair, John Lobb, Alfred Sargent, Loake, so I want to sell a shoe polish that would compliment the quality of these shoes,I went for the award winning French polish Saphir......I asked my supplier what/where and when were these awards, also who was the compitition......"eh no idea but it is award winning polish" was the answer, I also asked for point of sale/counter advertising......but nothing :(

So help needed from the forum please

1. What awards did Saphir win

2. When did they win it

3. who was the compitition

Need some info to push a polish that is three times the price of Kiwi.

Thanks :D

If I was looking for some "real" info on a usp, it might be worth PMing Chris Wilson on the TRG products

Senor Joaquim Tarrago, seams to be a "real" person with a full family heritage I'm sure Chris would forward any questions you have to Mr Tarrago to give you a unique selling edge. they also do a massive range of dyes & creams in the same colours, which is a first!

Hello Mr. Fastfix,

I hope it wasn't my company that gave you such a paucity of information about Saphir although I must admit I would not have known all the answers had you asked me. However I will try to find out for you from Avel, the manufacturers of Saphir Polish. We are at the moment also looking at importing some of their premium range of Medaille D'or which roughly translated means Gold Medal and comes at a premium price. ( I think that this is the polish that won the Gold Medal in 1925, not the ordinary Saphir range that we currently stock. )

With regard to advertising material for Saphir, the main problem is that it seems to only be printed in French which does reduce its attraction a little.

  • 4 weeks later...

SAPHIR won the Gold Medal at the Universal Exposition of Paris 1925 also known as the "Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes de 1925". The medal was awarded for the quality of the formulations and its innovation.

I didn't write this, I'm just copying it from an email. I was hoping for a bit more info.
