damen.rudi
Hi, I'm located in Belgium and a regular visitor of this forum. Now I have a question which is not directely linked to keycutting. I made an order to a keywholesaler in the UK. I asked him for transport overseas. No problem but the costs of carriage are over 70 pound. I want to buy on a regular base in the UK but is there a cheaper way of carriage? Go to get it is no option.Who has alternatives and can point me in the right direction.
StevenB
I use http://www.parcel2go.com quite a lot. You can send parcels with them, and also arrange parcels to be collected & delivered to you (or elsewhere come to that). Have a look & see if they can help you. lockdecoders
That seems a bit high. Depends on the weight. I use TNT to ship around the world for us.
keithm
Any UK wholesaler worth his salt can send goods anywhere in the world using a variety of carriers, cost obviously varies according to weight and type of shipment. We use UPS worldwide and are very happy with the service, expecially Euro or Trans Atlantic deliveries, tracking is important to us when sending any delivery But, all said and done, £70 does seem excessive
damen.rudi
Hello, I got the dimensions and the weight of the parcel. The box weights 5.3 kg and is 15" x 11" x 7". I have done an email to the company parcel2go with the question of price and delivery but they haven't answered yet. Keep you in touch. Greetings, Rudi
keithm
Given the weight, which does influence the parcel price, we would have charged £56 through UPS
kobblers
£6.99 inter parcel.com If posting in the same country, still a great price tho, been using for years Rick.
Growster
Some suppliers are clueless and not equipped to supply abroad. They will make the size of the carriage charge a reflection of the fear they have to lose out on the deal. A way to test their professionalism is to look at their invoices, and see, whether they knock off the UK VAT, because they are supplying abroad. (Incidentally, we fail royally on that gauge: Our accounting can't produce invoices without VAT, and it can also not omit the VAT on carriage charges). That is quite an oversimplification of supplying abroad Growster, nothing supplied overseas is that straightforward. To supply to other european countries without charging VAT you must have the customers VAT number and this has to be verified by C&E as genuine. We also have to complete an EU VAT form quarterly even though it is a zero return. Failure to do this can lead to big fines. For other countries around the world you need proof of export like carriage invoices and green tickets.

SKS_User
We certainly offer far more reasonable rates on carriage, I'm not sure if the forum rules permit us to post them here, so I'll drop you a PM. We can provide 0% VAT invoices if you have a valid EU VAT registration number, otherwise we have to charge you the VAT and then provide the paperwork necessary to claim it back from HMRC
