Michael
If you right click on a job file it should give you a menu, click properties at the bottom. Next to "opens with" is a change button, search for Vistool, it needs to be a .SDR file. Make sure the box at the bottom is ticked " Always use the selected program to open this type of file". Fingers crossed!!
grahamparker
As a Gravograph user not sure if i should post on this but it does sound like he has associated the Job files with Adobe in Windows software. This might help. http://www.thewindowsclub.com/change-file-associations-windows

Forest Cobbler
Hi Graham I worked my way through to the 'Associate defaults to a program' page, but could not recognise anything there that shouted Vistool at me, so I didn't want to mess with anything. Hi Michael Here are some screen shots of the various windows I encountered. Can you tell me what I should be clicking on in the last one please. First I right clicked on a saved job and then on 'Open with' Didn't want to use either of the two offered, so browsed for Vistool Couldn't work out what to do with this one Thanks in anticipation

Michael
Sorry, the old onion is correct, I forgot to add that you should choose the .exe execution file!!
Forest Cobbler
Ok. I've clicked on .exe and this is the new window. The box for 'always use this program....' was already ticked. Now I'm truly confused.

Forest Cobbler
It is, though I'm pretty sure they didn't look like that before. I seem to remember they were blank, rather than having tool boxes on. But if it all works I'm not going to worry anymore. I was just concerned about the error box, that I may have done something wrong. Thanks everyone.
Forest Cobbler
I'm sure I cannot be the only one having to engrave bases, bands and cups that are too large for U-marq's biggest cone. I have had some larger wooden cones made but they are just not precise enough and don't sit quite level, which can really cause problems. U-marq say they have no plans to produce larger cones because there is not enough demand to make it financially viable, which is fair enough, so I'm wondering what the rest of you are using for bigger items. Thanks, Valerie
Gray
I had my last one from Mastergrave 200mm x 125mm. It's been invaluable. Just looked and they don't seem to do them anymore. Might be worth ringing them though.
Forest Cobbler
I'll give them a call, see if they've still got one knocking around, it would be great if they have. My biggest wooden one is 210 to 247mm diameter, the next one down is 190 to 230mm diameter and the smallest one is 155 to 190mm diameter, so I'd still be looking for something bigger than the 125 to 200mm to replace them with. Gray
Mastergrave did one in 200mm x 260mm Hard resin only.

Forest Cobbler
Whilst trying to rectify our Comm-Port issues with our SIlca RW4+ (see auto forum) I appear to have messed up the Comm-port for the Vistool 8 program. The pop up I get says "cannot open comm port 2" Please help.
grahamparker
Have you tried running System restore to a point before you started messing with the com ports.
Michael
If you click ok on the popup you should be left with another popup box that says "Vismec 8" and "disconnected". If you click on "configuration" a drop down should say "change port". Try that and maybe unplug/plugin the USB cable.
Forest Cobbler
Would you believe that it has taken this long to be able to get the system restore to actually let me in, and then only by the back door. It kept saying that restore had been turned off by the system administrator and that I needed to contact them. Well I am the system administrator and it still wouldn't let me in. We've finally managed to configure the settings, but we're struggling to understand how to create a restore point when it hasn't had any before.
