StevenB
Hi folks, Can anybody help me? I've got a customer who wants some engraving done in a font called Monotype Corsiva. I've transferred it to my engraving PC (running Vista) from the office PC (running XP), and it seems the two aren't compatible. I've heard Vista uses 'Clear type' rather than the familiar 'True type' fonts - is this true? Does anybody have a copy of Vista with the font I could have? Thanks,

StevenB
Hmmm, still doesn't work. Has anyone else discovered this, or am I on a solo voyage of discovery...?

StevenB
Thanks for the link Pyrite. I received a call from Mark at U-Marq suggesting Zapf Chancery Medium Italic from the Vistool fonts. It's virtually the same, thanks Mark.=D> =D> =D> Mission accomplished. If I get the opportunity I'll post an image of the cake knife once it's engraved.

StevenB
As promised, here's some images of the finished engraving job on the 'cake knife'. Thanks again to Mark at U-Marq, following his advice on which font to use, you'd never know the difference between the one used & the original request. Gray
Really nice job Steven, are you stlill using Vistool to run the new machine?
StevenB
Thanks for your comments guys. It was engraved with a static diamond. Each visible line in the logo consisted of two lines about 0.18mm apart, which then had a cross hatch shading applied. I probably wouldn't have normally shaded something this small, but the logo started off bigger & I shrunk it for the final job. The text was simply the Zapf Chancery Medium Italic font (suggested by Mark) with a 0.2mm island fill in it. The sword just looked like stainless steel, it wasn't too bad to engrave, it certainly wasn't sharpened on the edges, which was a bonus! It was brought to me as my customer has had jobs done by me before & the sword supplier reckoned they could only engrave it in a basic single line font, which wasn't quite the effect they were after. Yes, I'm using vistool, now called U-Marq Universal Engraving v8.0. And it's fab! \:D/ I find it sooo much easier to use than the Gravostyle 5 which I have on my IS400.
