SKS_User
We have made JMA aware of this fault and are currently awaiting a response, having now finally got hold of a chip to confirm things with. In the meantime, you can try updating the machine's firmware to the 2.02 release, which can be downloaded from http://skskeys.co.uk/technical/trs5000. If you need help installing this, don't hestitate to give us a call.

SKS_User
Whats the difference between version 2.01 and version 2.02. I'll get a more detailed answer when John's back, as the information is sitting password protected on his machine. From what I recall, they made some minor changes to the chip recognition and I was curious to see if the Audi key mentioned was included.
canoncan
My TRS5000 has the 2.02 version software & is giving me Temic Fixed for 2007 Volkswagon. Personally, I don't think it's the end of the world if it gives wrong readings on VW/Audi stuff because if you're doing transponders then you should know pretty much what you can & can't do before going near the machine. HOWEVER, it is dissapointing that JMA's latest & grearest has difficulty in identifying what is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. I would always check the Transpponder catalogue if there was any doubt.
Michael
Thats where it confuses us that are not 100% up on this technology, machine says its a certain chip, look up model and year in catalogues and it says something else. The whole technology befuddles me sometimes, normally when I've got a shop full of people Thats where Lee's idea in the poll section of the forum is such a great one in my opinion http://www.shoerepairer.info/bb3/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3294
D-Power
My TRS5000 has the 2.02 version software & is giving me Temic Fixed for 2007 Volkswagon. I think there is a problem with the reading of your key, because I have a TRS-5000 with 2.02 version and it read correctly 2007 VAG keys

Technical Tony original
A guy came in today with an audi a4 key, popped it in the trs5000 and it said, TP 04 TEMIC FIXED, COPY ON TP 05. It was a laser type key, you know the one with the wiggly groove cut up the center of the key, anyway I cut it and programed the key, and it wouldnt work, it started the car but engine cut out after a few seconds. Now according to the trs500 it has copied the code ok, so has anyone got any ideas why it will not work.Cheers. OK - My guess this is a New Audi key - and the only machine on the market that can ID these is the TRS5000 - BUT - this is a very tricky issue ... This is what JMA have to say ... =============================================================== Hello John, The aerial of the machine is made to read the Transponder in vertical(into the key always is in vertical). If you put the transponder out of the aerial area, the machine could read badly. Like a TP04, when is TP08 or TP23. A lot of times, this error appears when the key of the car is into the remote, and the customer try to read the TP with the key is out of the remote. (Volkswagen remotes) On the other hand, while we are reading the transponder, we have to put the TP in the hole and we have to hold strongly.(without movement) ================================================================ I know this can be a pain - as I have had the chip read different numbers myself - but I myself would suggest on all cars - to always ask their age as well - then at least you know if it should be a key that should or should not copy ! Hope this is of help .
x minit uk
It was Audi A4, x reg 8 years old, so no, not a new key at all. Was hoping when I purchased the trs5000 it would cover this sort of age of vehicle.
Auto Key Wizard
It was Audi A4, x reg So this is an Audi A4 Manufactured between 1/9/00 to 28/2/01 The key is Silca HU66AT6 & uses transponder T6 I.D 48 Crypto, this cannot be cloned. Looking at the Application List VAG isn't supported What made you think it was a Fixed Code transponder Minit?

Yes this is correct - this is a Transponder year / key that can not be copied - Sorry .... Please feel free to PM me your details / Address - if you would like a JMA Transponder book - this will also show what years can and can not be copied - and help with the transponder keys you may need. Auto Key Wizard
On the other hand, while we are reading the transponder, we have to put the TP in the hole and we have to hold strongly.(without movement) The best way is to place some Blutack by the hole in the reader, & push chip vertically into that. I do this when preparing transponders with logic.
