however i would like to know how much a spool of johns lace costs? maybe in the trade section though as i think the profit on this way of making laces would be quite a bit more than most expect

The profit is good. Offcourse it depends on the length off the laces.

I can post the price off a spool, but not on a public place.... :-#

The laces are €.1,00 per metre, aglets €.0,10 each.

For example:

Laces 75cm > €. 1,90 a pair

Laces 120cm > €.2,80 a pair

When the laces are longer then 150 cm/each I don't charge aglets. So: laces 175cm > €.3,50 a pair

Minimum price is €.1,50 a pair.

Hope it helps :D

I also have a smal assortment packed laces like black 75 cm for mens shoes, 90cm. and 120 cm.!

I only keep packed laces on stock wich I sell at least a box (10 pairs) a year.

Like I told before: look how long your packed laces hanging on the wall before you have sold a box....

You can't imagine how long that is. :-k

Hi

I looked at this years ago and also bought a hand tag machine to show people the concept. Everytime we got a negative response when they tried to make a pair of laces with the comment that they could repair a pair of heels in less time and it was not worth employing another member of staff just to make laces.

We would need at least 100 repairers wanting the system to invest in the spools each spool would contain 200meters of braid. This braid may contain joins and some faults because spools would miss 2 x quality control process's these would be carried out in store as you make the laces.

Starter pack would contain the following (for example)

30 x spools of assorted lace braids. approx 3,500 pairs of laces when made

3,000 small metal aglets (all antique bronze)

2,000 large metal aglets

1 x hand tagger

Initial investment maybe £800

Hope this helps
