Lee
this is a moved topic from the wanted section, relating to inside ring engraving. A word of caution! I brought a ring engraver a while back, a low cost manual one. for me it was a mistake the fonts are limited the engraver I brought you couldn't alter the font size. Most jewelers offer this service when they sell the rings in the first place so demand was very poor. I sold it and invested the money in a new computer so I could make this site easier! StevenB
I got lucky & found an inside ring engraver (at a bargain price) at an auction! The fonts are limited - I've got 2, & the lack of an '&' symbol is strange - it's mainly going to be wedding rings & similar with 2 names, surely? But, these details aside, it's another service I can offer, & people don't seem to mind what style it's in, as long as their message is there! I charge a flat rate of £15 (maybe I'll re-assess this) &, let's face it, even if you paid full price for the machine & only do a couple a month at £25 a go, the machine will be paid for in a little over a year, then it's ALL profit! Guest Iain Cheall
Most High Street Jewellers sell wedding bands with the engraving included in the price. While it is true that they don't personally engrave the rings on the premises their ring suppliers do it for them free of charge. I have 3 jewellers that i do work for and when i asked them about purchasing a ring engraver they told me not to bother.
Guest Iain Cheall
wouldn't know about the Metro Centre thats in Newcastle I'm not, but I deal with a small private jeweller and 2 large national jewellers and they all said the same "Don't bother to buy one the ring manufacturers engrave them for free" so i didn't lol
ironplanet uk900
I engrave the inside of rings, bangles etc by hand. I get quite a lot of call for it, and I have alot of jewellers around me. So I don't understand why people seem to think theres no call for it

Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
You are still in the wrong area folks. There are some who would love to get involved in the Ring Engaving topic but may miss it due to it being in the wrong section. If someone new joins and wants info on Ring Engraving where are they going to find it??? They will never find it under "Wanted"

Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Quite right Tel, only one problem there though! I dont know how to!!!!!! I know how to edit and delete but not how to move several posts to another area. Perhaps I have to cut and paste one at a time, but I dare not try in case I loose a valuable posting of someones. Perhaps Lee will give us instructions in the moderators section. It's probably very simple but I dont want to mess about and get it wrong Tel. ironplanet uk900
It is dead easy to go off topic, especially long topics. I don't think it's intentional but does need to be corrected, otherwise it just becomes a chatroom
hocumgday
I have read all the posts on this topic and i cant believe that most of the posts are negative towards "Inside ring engraving". We have a steady flow of customers who ask for this service and most of these are young people who buy silver or trendy alloy rings and would like to express their love for each other,(cant imagine any jeweller offering free engraving on a £10 ring) They are offered the manual ring engraver service for £15 or the computer service for £20-£25 which can include any type of font or clip art of there choice(depending on ring size). Most choose the the computer service and dont bat an eyelid when paying. A lot of young people of today seem to lean towards old values and love the idea of personalisation and will pay top dollar for this service which nearly always heavily out costs the item itself. I used one of the buttons on my till last week to monitor sales on engraving inside of ring's. We took £270.00. We don't do this every week, but we never do less than £100. Wonder why they told you not to bother
