completelocks
Hi guys. I have a 101-B (pic attached) To tighten the cutters after I change them, it tells me to stick and Allen key in the hole on the top to lock it in place then tighten the nut(s). I stuck a file down there and it snapped. Now the machine won't work. Motor works, belt spins but the cutter mechanism is jammed. Anyone know how to get it1 out what looks like a sealed unit? grahamparker
Turn upside down and shake and hope the broken piece of file comes out. Try a precision screwdriver also while upside down. Also use the right tool in future saves a lot of distress and issues. Auto Key Wizard and EST
petercoulson
As @grahamparker says first try that otherwise apart from trying to take the shaft out which may be impossible with the file in you may end up making the holw a lot bigger to get tweezers or pliers in so long as you remember to cover the holw after to stop swarf and dust as much as you can completelocks
completelocks
I turned it upside down, shook it, turned it back the right way and it must have moved as the cutters turned freely. Plugged in, turned on and it started no problem, with no 'catching' sounds or any issues. petercoulson

If the piece of file hasn't been retrieved, then it still remains somewhere it shouldn't be. Can a 4mm diameter bar or tool be inserted to lock the spindle? completelocks
A bar can be inserted yes. Sees the piece jamming the cutting wheels has either fallen downwards in a space in there at the bottom maybe (all sealed so dont know) or it was small and fallen out when machine turned upside down
Cranky Franky
Now that it is free spinning and the shaft can be removed i would be inclined to pull the mechanism apart and try and remove the broken file part as it may cause an accident or future problems down the track completelocks
