Pressure vs support

Recommended Posts

The pressure I’ve been under is immense. Not through the governments support. I got my grant & my first furloughed payment came through in just a few days. All my suppliers are paid up to date. I’ve money in the bank and could easily have a year off if I wanted.

but because I’m part bike shop I’ve had a constant bombardment day in day out from Facebook, Instagram & text asking if I can fix this bike or that bike, can I service it,  do I have such and such a bike in stock & when I say no it’s like I’m some kind of anti Christ because they are a god that need their bike for work or their entitlement of exercise.
it’s almost got me down, do these people not realise I already know every other bike shop that’s open locally, do they not realise I know Timpson are open & which stores.

the biggest pressure is not staying at home for me, I want to be with my family, but the messages are doing my head in.

ends rant

Just put a note on all your social media saying you are self isolating and unavailable for 2 weeks then turn of your phone and all acess to social media while you re-charge.

Work to Live not the other way round.

Stay safe and spend time with the family while you can.

Pick up a cheap sim card just for family and friends so you can still keep in touch on a payg.

Thing is, I like my social media and have always been at the forefront of it (even got a TikTok account now lol) I’ve never missed a reply and feel it’s important to reply and not ignore but a lot of the “can you just” messages are coming from my private accounts from so called “friends” it’s been so hard saying no to some of them! I wish they’d give the situation respect in the first place and not ask.

Don't succumb, Lee; if they're that bloody selfish at a time like this, then you don't need their custom. I have a feeling why you're having an internal struggle and I think, although I could be wrong, that it boils down to your habit of being a consummate professional, where customer service is concerned.

I agree with all the above replies. Your sanity, your health and your family are all paramount - you only live once, mate. One of my biggest regrets over the yeras is not spending enough time with my family, especially my kids,  due to trying to build and develop my business and bring money into the family, which is why I  now try to spend as much time with my two young grandkids.

You have a bit of money and a lot of time on your hands - bloody well have a decent break and make the most of it. x.

Rick.
