xepsnot
Anyone know how to get into the bloody thing? I've unscrewed everything but still no sign that the lugs will come off to let me remove the case back. Seen a YouTube video where someone exerted a lot of pressure on the lugs (just pulling) and they seemed to disconnect but it wasn't crystal clear to me that they hadn't just snapped off!! It's a solar watch that the customer says has had a normal 3v cell put in a year or so ago. He says it worked fine on this basis and wants a replacement. I'm dubious about this but frustrated by my inability to get in. Thanks all!!
Mike at Vauxhall
I would just point blank refuse to fit a standard battery in any solar powered watch. It will definitely come back repeatedly to you. Tell him to send it back to casio.
k4mrc
maybe take the straps off first? this may then become obvious
xepsnot
One strap is off (as per picture) have had both off but a way in still opaque. Any other tips?!
k4mrc
remove the black part of the strap that is still in place ,there is probably some screws under there will probably be a rechargeable battery if it is solar powered Mike at Vauxhall
Michael
Just watched the video and looks quite simple. They are probably knurled for the reason that you get a bit more grip when easing them out.
Mike at Vauxhall
As K4mrc says only be a rechargeable one, cost price about £10. It's a fool's game fitting anything else. If he's had normal ones fitted, they just are not going to last.
Youngcobbler
Don’t waste your time. Offer the proper price. I charge £50 for those even 65. Once the price is right and he is happy then invest your time in opening which I pretty sure you will. you are the expert not the customer. Do let us know how you get on good luck. Lee
If it’s had a non rechargeable 3v put in it the chances are it’s over heated through being charged and buggered the watch anyway, so you’ll be potentially investing in a capacitor that won’t work. personally I’d never fit a battery in a rechargeable watch because it’s so unstable and will generate a lot of heat, you burn your customer and they’ll not be interested in “just stick a 3v in it” when it comes to court. kirkybob and Mike at Vauxhall
bellanjohnsaon0
As K4mrc says only be a chargeable one, cost rate approximately £10. It's a fool's game becoming some thing else you want to know about best watch then read the reviews. If he's had everyday ones geared up, they simply are not going to last. Rainbower
Press it onto the back and pull gently but firmly. If that doesn't work, some cases require a specific tool to pop them open—those might be worth a try if you can get your hands on one. Ovemansc
I had a similar issue with one of my premium class men's watches. I struggled for hours trying to open the case back without damaging the lugs. What worked for me was using a case knife carefully inserted between the lugs and gently prying them open. Make sure you're exerting even pressure, as it can be easy to damage them if you're too forceful. As for the watch having a normal 3v cell, that can definitely be tricky. Solar watches usually require a specific rechargeable cell, and using a standard battery might cause issues in the long run. I'd suggest looking up the exact battery model for your solar watch to ensure it runs smoothly.
