Susan
I'm try to choose between a laser engraver and a cnc engraver for glass work, specifically a Roland EGX 300, and I'm hoping you can help me make up my mind. Here are my questions: 1. The Roland EGX 300 isn't specifically marketed for glass cutting, but I know that a lot of people use it for this. What pitfall is Roland afraid of? 2. What is the difference in time work time between a laser and a cnc engraver? Most of my work will be on 80mm discs with basic filled animal designs on them. Anybody care to hazard how long that might take on a laser versus the cnc engraver? 3. Will I get fine detail on the Roland machine? 4. Anything else I should be thinking about? Thanks for your help, Susan kobblers
hibsjo(SCO)
cant speak for roland machine but on gravograph time to laser engrave compared to diamond engrave is at least 10 times faster carry on!
Gray
The Roland EGX300 is slow. Ask me how I know.
Susan
That sounds like it might be a painful experience Gray! Are you considering/have you considered an upgrade? To what?
Susan
So Hibsjo, you're saying your laser is far fast than? That's what I thought. I can't afford a nice £15k laser to get me the kind of detail I'd like though. I'm just wondering if there's a sweet spot between speed/machine cost/detail quality. I imagine that's the holy grail though . . .
