Dave the locksmith
Got the chance to double my shop size and looking for a new revenue stream, does engraving pay for it self ? I have read the comments on the stress it causes etc. but my only competition in town is Tsons and most people seem very unhappy with the service / quality of the work done. I have NEVER engraved anything other than a key before so a total newbie.

grahamparker
Been doing it for over 30 years now and YES it does pay for itself. I am now in a position where i engrave padlocks for Abus UK, Hoppe, Some big online retailers and our local oil refineries (one had 20,000 dog discs engraved over the last 3 years). We picked up a job nearly 25 years ago just after buying our first computer engraver it was for a New power station and the quote was originally for £8500 + vat for treffolyte labels. By the time we had finished 3 years later they had spent £34,000 in total and we haven't looked back since. We don't sell many trophies anymore but we still do a lot of annual trophies for dance festivals and a lot of treffolyte labels. kobblers
