If they were bought online, you are covered by the Consumer Contracts Regulations (used to be distance selling regs). Your rights are well protected, so before paying out, it's well worth getting in touch with the retailer.

 

If the boots don't match, it sounds like they are "not as described", covered by the Sale of Goods Act - very simple and clear legislation aimed at protecting consumers. 

 

Try the retailer first - let us know how you get on.
