ironplanet uk900
Do you guys offer genuine or non genuine keys when you have both in stock... we do, helps me justify my price when they compare us to the likes of Asda who use crappy blanks (in my opinion) my customers seem to like the originals when you explain the benifits against the UL1 merchants! just saying! grahamparker
All euro cylinders I use genuine blanks if I can source them. Mortise i used to offer genuine and copy blanks and after 3 years of customers asking for the cheapest option I only keep a few genuine era, union and union C series now and use them when asked or when making keys to fit a lock. Simes
I could be wrong but I really don't believe customers in general care less whether they are genuine blanks or not. By that I mean ERA v JMA, Silca, HD as an example. However, they do care that they work and don't easily break. So I try where I can to use the correct blank rather than deferring to universals and prefer to use better quality blanks where I can. I don't believe my prices are cheap (higher than the survey average) but I rarely ever get challenged on price. If I do, I tell them we use good quality blanks, our keys will work and are guaranteed, plus they they can easily park for free outside my door. If they don't mind travelling into town, battling with traffic and paying for parking plus a walk to the nearest key cutter to save a few 50p or £1, then that's their choice. I don't feel using genuine blanks will really add much value to the customer. But I'm open to hear different views.

ironplanet uk900
Think it all depends whether you can put yourself across to your customer or if you can be bothered! I concur Good money to be made if you can explain to your customers the benifits of using genuine Blanks.. Plus you can use it against your Asda's & B&Q's and the like who use inferior blanks IMO!... slippy
I do use genuine blanks where needed. Ie certain Era, E*S & UAP. But a universal or a key with nothing on comes in, what else can you do. Cut 144 Mila keys for a block of flats last week. Orignal Keys One Price, copies(not universal) Cheaper £36.00 better in my pocket. Trade prices removed by mod.
