Paul_
Hi there, Hopefully someone can shed some light on a problem I have with my finisher. My trimmer band moves along the wheel when it's spinning causing me problems with neat finishing. It doesn't always do it.... Normally when I'm finishing a delicate job! I know to clean the back of the band form dirt and to clean the wheels but even after that it moves. Any suggestions? Any help much appreciated Paul aka an in-experienced cobbler. gsc
I haven't got one but possibly use less pressure.
elfman
remember to check the tension every now and again as the band stretchs with wear
Paul_
remember to check the tension every now and again as the band stretchs with wear It's defiantly better with a new band on but not perfect. I'm thinking something needs adjusting with the wheels. I'm sure a machinery bod will answer my query shortly.
petercoulson
As Elfman says it is normally a tension issue, try to see if you can tighten it there must be a spring somewhere that may have lost its tension you could shorten it if it cannot be adjusted. The other thing it could be is the front and back wheels may be slightly mis-shaped but this would normally make it lumpy to use.

Paul_
Thanks for your help. I'll have a play with the spring. The band is not lumpy to use so that rules that out. Thank you
Michael
I gave up with the one on my Standard Lynx....wouldn't run straight, couldn't fine tune it straight and get it to stay!! Shame really as it would be handy sometimes. Let me know how you get on with any fix
Paul_
I gave up with the one on my Standard Lynx....wouldn't run straight, couldn't fine tune it straight and get it to stay!! Mine is a Standard too. I've got a 482, which I think is the predecessor of the Lynx (?). I've talked to my dad who's machine it was before me and he said the nut has worked its way loose from the bracket that holds the whole rear wheel mechanism and needs to be tightened. With this loose there is some play on the back wheel hence the band movement. The problem is that to get to the nut and bolt we have to get to the back of the machine....no easy job when you are busy and it means taking parts of the fixtures down to get to it! Does this sound about right machinery Peter/Keith? A job for a bank holiday Monday perhaps

petercoulson
482 or 842? If it's 942 with multi head then all work on system is from the front but very awkward.
