Passat B6 key programming equipment??

Recommended Posts

Hi

what does everybody use to program Passat B6 new remotes? i currently "TRY" to use my MVP Pro & AD900 Pro but don't seem to be having much success. I always manage to get all 7 bytes of the Component Security but when i program the transponder with it the MVP then tells me it's not the correct dealer key. I've tried with 3 or 4 different Passats & get the same issue each time.

I was looking at Abrites VAG Commander but it's a lot of money for me to spend on equipment to cover the few models my MVP doesn't cover. Somebody i know has bought some equipment called SMOK which i've never heard of. I've been on the website & it looks to be a Polish based company that has 1 UK distributor in Essex.

He's only just bought the equipment so hasn't had chance to test it fully but he did say that he's just fully programmed a new virgin remote key for a 2006 Audi A6 which uses the 8E transponder which again the MVP won't touch

its been said over and over , but no single solution for full coverage exists , it always pays to have options and alternatives , but of course is expensive.

Abrites is certainly the top dog on what it covers vehicle and model wise with regards coverage and updates .

with regards smok , ive read good comments , bad comments equally , but forums always have differing views that dont always give a clear picture.

which ever genuine kit you invest in that supplies updates , always catches up in end , ad kit does some things avdi doesnt yet and vice versa , but which ever you own you know they will be working on it.

From speaking to a few other people Abrites definitely does look like very good equipment. At the moment I just don't get enough jobs for vehicles that Abrites covers & my my MVP doesn't. This year so far i've only been to 2x B6's. Then had 2x C6 A6's, 1x mk6 Golf, 2x mk5 Ibiza & 1x facelift 2011 Octavia owners contact me for keys which i've had to turn away as i can't do them.

That's only 8 keys so definitely doesn't warrant me draining my savings for more equipment. I'm sure as time passes & these models get older more people will require getting new keys for these models. I'm going to see what AD give us in the updates then i'll decide what to do. I'm going to keep my eye on SMOK as well in the meantime

£250 per job! was it Dick Turpin that did them?

Easily.... as only professionals with the experience and the proper kit can do them. The alternative is paying for the vehicle to be towed to the dealers, waiting a week, and paying the same price, anyway. i.e. same price + towing + time.

Alternatively; the customer can wait while someone else (without the experience, training, or kit) messes about for a day or two, at the promise of a significantly lower price, and then discover that they do not even understand the limitations of their own equipment.... and then pay the original higher price anyway!

....not only have you lost out on '£2k' gross.... you have also flushed time, fuel, vehicle and tool wear, etc., and, no doubt, materials, down the drain because you could not finish the job.... as well as the profit from the urgent jobs you missed out on while you were wasting time on something you could not do, anyway.
