Engraving the edge of a watch

Recommended Posts

Please be gentle with me here! I'm very new to this!

I have been asked to engrave a new watch on the side with the words "Love Hannah x" in s script of some sort. So...

I'm using a U-Marq Uni 350 and I'm thinking clamp it as per the picture below??

Also, what font do you recommend?

Another this is that the test tape I have is called Clear Choice but it doesn't really seem to stick to anything. Am I using it wrong?

It's tempting just to say leave it and stick with the simple stuff but I have to do it someday!

Advice please?

no need for test tape its a simple job

alt =a enter diamater and length and height ie a box the size of the engraveable aare on the side of the watch i would say about 5mm high 25mm wide

if area is 5mm high put a dot with a drywipe pen in the centre

now clamp in vice like you did

alt=1

diamond rotated retract 4mm depth 2mm

enter

enter

press start for position move carraige so diamond is in line with dot when you lower z

start again lower z to touch item

press start again job done in less than 5 mins

cotilion looks ok but I and |R and S not to great in that font

that was all from memory so i stand to be corected

Thanks for all that Craig. So with the font that you mentioned, I can't see "cotilion" in either the Vistool or truetype options? What I'm not sure about is that when you type in the Auto text box most of the fonts give an outline of the letters rather than a straight forward single line font. So do I just shade the area?
