Here's a pickle..

Was drilling out a pin in a heel today and the bit snapped. Licky though, there was enough of it to get hold of and twist out.

It got me thinking though, what if it had snapped inside so there was nothing to get hold of?

Anyone had to deal with this? Just wondering and trying to arm myself in case it ever happens :-k

I think we've all been there... In my experience, there are a couple of approaches you can take.

Firstly, you could make a point of never using your most durable drill bit to begin with. This way you could drill out a broken bit.

A more workable solution is to find a way to remove the tube from the heel so that you can then knock the drill bit out of the tube before refitting the tube to the shoe.

Simple solution, heated pliers, been around for years, just be careful not to let the tube get too hot or 'disaster' :?
