Going the extra mile

Recommended Posts

I would like to take take this opportunity to thank Kev from Charles Birch's engraving department for going the extra mile this week to help me out. =D>

Due to an administrative error by a member of his staff, a sign that I needed by Tuesday, in time for a 50th birthday on Wednesday was only just being painted on Tuesday morning...

The biggest problem, however was that even if the sign was completed & dispatched, Wednesday was carnival day in Cromer, when the population of 8500 people swells to 50 or 60,000 people to watch the Red arrows & all the other fun.

Cromer's narrow streets are gridlocked all day, and many couriers simply don't come anywhere near, so there was no guarantee I'd get the sign in time. ](*,)

For this reason, Kev took it upon himself to correct the original oversight & ensure I got the sign in time by personally delivering it to me, a round trip of some 300 miles (meeting me at about 9pm, somewhere in deepest mid Norfolk, with a 3 hour return drive back to Leeds...). :sturun: :sturun: :sturun:

I don't think he's planning to make a habit of this, but as my customer was on the edge of tears (of happiness) when she saw the sign, it was certainly worth it. =D> =D> =D> \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ :smt041 :smt041 :smt041
