Gray
I was thinking of a sort of camouflage look, orange with a hint of ink and wax and dust. That way I would'nt have to paint it.
keithm
You need 4-6inches behind the machine anyway to let the filter bag breath, if .not, the extraction effect will be reduced!

Gray
Everything now installed....Tough job that on yer own. It was blue I discovered from the paint underneath the seal on the bag. I was wondering if Keith or Peter had any history of this machine from the serial number..... "700 Combo 163" 3 Phase...............Oh testes still intact..........just. Auto Key Wizard
Graham, I have a question for you. My 1984 model 700 will need the brush-roll V belt replacing sometime in the future. I purchased a replacement some 10 year ago (but have never fitted it) when I noticed a cut & chunk missing from the original belt, that belt is still driving the brush-roll to this day. The brush-roll is the mechanical type, do you have any tips on the easiest way to apply the belt over the main shaft, what fixings, parts did you disassemble to achieve this. Thanks Tel

Thanks Tel I can answer Tel, if you look at the left hand side of the brush tumble assembly you will see there is a collar and plate bolted through the machine for support. Loosen the collar first (2 screws I think) and slide all the way to the right towards the middle. then undo the 3 bolts around the larger plate, remove the outside one and slide the inside one towards the middle as well. By doing this you will see the hole that the shaft goes through is bigger, just enough with effort to pass the belt through. Whatever you do, dont undo the handle assembly on the right as this is tensioned and sprung loaded.
Gray
What Peter said but only 1 bolt in the collar, also you might have to move the motor over because the pulley is close the side of the machine I'd already taken my motor off so don't know if you will have enough clearance. I also removed the tins from behind the brushes but that might not have been nessesary.
Auto Key Wizard
Thanks Guys. I'd pretty much worked out that that would be the method some 10 years back \:D/ Just need to wait for it to fail, maybe another 10 years yet WHB built a good machine in the 700. The serial no of mine is 700 Combi
petercoulson
You should be ok with the motor pulley and a bit of leverage but after all that time it may be worth changing the mounts anyway.
Auto Key Wizard
Yup, motor mounts are plentiful from the local motor-factor/exhaust centre
