cutters not lasting

On the 15th of september i fitted a new 750sf cutter and it is now starting to struggle

on brass and the new genuine union strongbolt keys are creating one hell of a burr.

 

That is just over 1 month and about 2000 keys cut,is this the best we can expect from cutters

nowadays ???.

I'm finding Chinese mortice blanks are too hard, I like the Davenport "easy cut" blanks.

For information - We have found Most of these to hard - and they can damage even the best cutter on the market, Thats why JMA - Silca ETC keys are the ones we sell, and most other good suppliers do as well. We have even had reports that this Chinese keys are damaging computerised machines as well !

I have found that some of the hardest blanks are the union genuine blanks,not sure if they

are made in china but they are as tough as hell.

 

I get all my mortice blanks from Aldridges,Keyprint and sks and dont always buy the cheapest.

Next time I get a new blade for the cyclone, I'll give it two light passes with an old file.

I'd be interested to know what the suppliers think the result should be????

In fact, I'll try it tomorrow on a couple of old blades.
