Lee
National shoe repair week. National shoe repair week has been pencilled into the diary to take place during the 2nd week of September. CuttingEdge have increased the amount of investment into the week & as a committee have learnt from the mistakes of the first shoe repair week. This year the focus until now has been on generating publicity for the trade, with much work being done on launching the shoe recycling challenge to raise money for children in need. As a committee we would still like to press ahead with other promotions to promote a shoe repair week for those not taking part in the cycling challenge & the subject of coupons has been raised & it has been agreed that shoe repairers would be responsible for there own offers. Posters could be used in shop fronts that say “See special offers in store†

Lee
I read the title after you posted that Peter, read & re-read it & decided nothing was wrong with it! Then this morning it dawned on me! I have now changed 2007 to 2008
Danny King
Maybe National Shoe repair week should be aimed at supporting you Local INDEPENDANT shoe repairer. Making the national campain also a local campain. Just a thought
Lee
this year there is NO specific "buy one Get one free" type off campaign. learning from the mistakes of last year the focus of the week will be supporting independent repairers at a local level. Currently the main focus of the week is the cycling campaign which should help generate good "Local" media interest for those involved & potentially national media interest with the link to children in need. There are plans to print coupons but what would YOU want on them? Lee
Lee
the next cuttingedge meeting is the 15th of April, I report back on this topic. I will be reporting: Little interest shown, Cutting Edge should concentrate their efforts soley on the cycling challenge this year. Lee

Ted Starzec
perhaps you might report back that before trying to sell the idea to the public, they need to find a way to sell the idea to the shoe repairer. Or perhaps look for other ways to promote the industry that doesn't involve time and/or commitment from individual shoe repairers. Unfortunate as it is, this is the apathetic world/trade in which we live!
Lee
Just an update, following the cutting edge meeting yesterday afternoon, I thought I would clear up any misunderstandings about the national shoe repair week this time round. When the week was originally planned the initial idea of the cycling challenge was raised & this event alone has become such a big opportunity that the majority of the effort for the week will be focused around the cycling challenge. I raised the point of lack of interest on this topic & was advised there will be suggestions made for those not taking part, but wishing to do something around the shoe repair week but these will be exactly that, suggestions. Some media will also be available but again these will directed towards raising money for children in need. Lee
