davejones1974
Has anyone had any of those cheap ass Aldi Brass padlocks in yet ? They cost £3.00 with two keys, The original key, sometimes works but not always. After trying several different key blanks, with the padlock in the shop, leaving more on the new key and then taking more off it, could never get in working 100% Never had this problem, since starting out as a cobbler 17 years ago. Has anyone had any more luck.

ironplanet uk900
There are some naff cylinders on the market............cus we dumped our british lock manufacturers in the name of cheap Chinese inferior replacements. Just my opinion that chinese locks aint any good, they may be excellent
Technical Tony original
Is it me, or are the quality of locks in general getting worse every year. I'm replacing Yale cylinders which have been working perfectly for 20 years with a brand new yale cylinders and even some of the original keys dont work properly I have found that the Yale locks have dropped their quality alot ! and sometimes the originals work (Just) and the next generation cut - however well your machines are set - just will not work. I had some new locks direct from Yale the other day and had 60 keys to cut ! So I decided to use one of the best machines around - the Silca Bravo Pro. 2 ... none of the keys worked ! in any of the jaws ! I tried the originals - and alot of them when turning the key - I found to be tight and some of them seemed like the pins were grinding inside ! 3 machines later I found a way to make these work - but only just !!! Bren
If i get a customer asking for keys for these crappy padlocks (tri-circle etc) i advise them to bin it and get a decent one that they'll have no probs getting keys for. Usually results in a sale.

kobblers
the odd problem but nowt to get over anxious about Everybody gets the odd key back Rick, no matter how good they are indeed we sell a couple of the tri circle locks too, they make a cheaper alternative to the squire, sterling and master that we sell and earlsdon's right, at least we can get the blanks for these particular chinese padlocks. i have noticed that the tri circle keys have roughly about 6-8 profiles, (maybe less, can't remember and i'm at home so i can't check) there are longer and shorter versions of the same blank is all. we used to cut quite a lot of the egret keys a few years back, we could get the original blanks for them but they seem to have gone out of fashion now, shame really as we never really had any problems with them. if we told our customers to bin their cheap shitty locks they'd get insulted and probably walk out although i have been tempted tel keep it coming fellas rick.
