ironplanet uk900
Hibs, If your upgrading from the is200, go for the is400 volume binery. Don't bother with the m40g. This is the best machine by far, I've got two. You could be miissing out on all this type of work....Big business

What are your needs?, as I can't see what you'll achieve with the swop. Surley the more you can get from the machine the better. I know the size can be a problem for some folk. Honestly you can create a lot more services with the is400 volume. It doen't take up that much more room than the is200. I would urge you to consider it Hibs
hibsjo(SCO)
Size does matter dont have the room for it. The m40g will engrave the same flat area suface as the volume so I CAN do all that work shown. the only draw back is the cylinder attachment smaller than the 200. Will only sell 200 for exceptional price because of what its got on it. Enough work for two of us to engrave on both machines just now so Im in no desperate hurry to sell the old girl. The glass engraving on this 40g is perfect. the best ive seen.

petercoulson
have used the is200, 400 and m40g. the problem some have with going to m40g when they have had is200 or 400 is that the software is very simple perhaps too simple for them. the machine though is very good specially with the laser to line up work and for proof runs. if you are not too good with computers it is the best machine to get

You have to learn to use it the same as anything else. The is400 volume is the best all round machine on the market in my opinion. Most of my business is engraving, Engraving all day every day & I wouldn't swop em for the world. Superman has lasers in his eyes
petercoulson
Nothing against the is400, as you say it is a brilliant machine but the price and size of it do not help some shoe repairers. at least the m40g will go up to the same size on flat work but given an unlimited choice you do have the best machine and software there
ironplanet uk900
Hi Peter, Just for the record, I got my 2nd is400volume cheaper than my first is200. Had to fight for it but I did get it £1000 cheaper than my is200. Theres alot of movement in there price if your willing to barter The size thing can be a problem, infact I don't have alot of room myself. the problem comes from when you need to turn the carriage around. We have to jiggle it a bit You need a space of about 3ft 6" in width to turn it round.
hibsjo(SCO)
The engraving bench is 30" in our shop so we are fecked that was the sole reason we never got the volume. Have to admit I think we are going to keep the IS200 enough work for the two of us to be getting on with, nothing worse when you are in the middle of a run and somebody wants the opposite of what you are using. So where do you get your plaques from

hibsjo(SCO)
Well weve had this a little while now and after reading Dannys post about his rotation we are having problems with the m40g! First, of all it wouldnt lock on its origin after taking it off the horizontal, after DM my gravo rep taking it away(left me his while it was being looked at) it came back fixed. Second, there seems to be a "glitch" in the software where the machine cant be found on the comp! havent been given a good enough explanation on this! Third, text doesnt do as its told on automatic/manual mode software just doesnt seem to be flexible enough? All in all after working with gravostyle 98 for 6 years this isnt progress? can someone come back to me from Gravograph my reps in on Tuesday and I can see me giving him this back!
