keithm
Rick I assume that you meant this as a question to us at Standard. If so may I suggest you contact us directly via our website on one of the links from the site BTW, no, we do not stock parts for K&B machines as we consider them to be obsolete machines. I believe some stock maybe available from elsewhere within the trade. Please don't feel like you were ignored
hibsjo(SCO)
Keith whats the chances/likliehood of a engineer going by my door in the near future southwest Scotland (Not Isle of Man)
StevenB
I'm sure you'd get a better reply from the company concerned if you were to email them with any questions & queries you have that relate directly to them. Obviously, include any link to relevant threads in the forum so they know we're talking about them, but don't expect them to check all the threads & posts here as regularly as they check their emails! Just a thought.
petercoulson
A lot of parts for K&B are still available from us at Siserve 0116 271 7152. They are no longer manufactured but we understand that there are a lot of them still out there particularly Goodyear outsoles so make parts for them ourselves. petercoulson
although kb, standard and whitfield (not many of these around) goodyear heads look the same most parts (nearly all) are not interchangeable including tables - kb tables have a back stop whereas standard ones do not. needle and awl clamps, thread sizes (for bolts) etc are all different. in fact i am finding it hard to remember any interchangeable parts. we stock and manufacture parts for both types of head but it is a pain. commonly worn parts are thread hooks, lifters, loopers, tables, needle guides and clamps - all different between machines although some can be fitted to the other with some 'bodging' when needed
petercoulson
i have a problem there myself, keep getting it wrong. the only way i know is eliminate whitfield heads (too few around and no parts), then check the size of the square headed awl or needle clamping nut if 10mm across flats it is standard if 8 mm across then k&b - you could meaure across the flat sides of the spanner for the job. this is nearly 100% accurate. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Interesting tip that one Peter, as for Whifield heads, many moons ago when I was doing some work with Whitfields I was uder the impression that Whitfield machines were in the Multiples. If the multiples still have these machines then there must still be the demand for spares, presumably supplied by the new owners of Whitfield (Standard). I thought that all these machines were made in the USA and were virtually the same, just goes to show, even old dogs can learn new tricks.
