hibsjo(SCO)
No names being mentioned here but just did a repair on gents shoes replaced rubber heels, 7quid, but the HIGH STREET MULTIPLES SOS was hanging off What would you do Now I took sole off and put it back on NO CHARGE Proffessional Curtesy Never been one to slag off anyones work, whether it was bad or bad.But I dont know if this would have been reciprocated, but what the hell. Lee
Probably would have done the same But I would have menthioned that I had when they returned, and hopefully turned a negative into a positive with customer hopefully being impressed with my concern! kobblers
i woulda done the same too. one thing i would say though is if a customer asks you to secure a sos or any other job that someone else has done, it's probably wise to tell them you're happy to do the work but there is no guarantee. the reason i say this is that if it comes away again, (it could be crap material, not your method) then they're going to bring it back to you, at a cost to you to put right, and God forbid that it falls off, replace outright. when i get the odd occasion that this does happen and i explain this to the customer, they're usually satisfied, if they balk then i tell them to go back to the person who originally did the work. rick. 'Onest Andy
A common situation this one to all of us I'm sure. I tend to try and make a point of checking the shoes over regardless of the customer's Idea of what is needed. I find it's not only a good way of generating extra income by pointing out other work needed ( Note I never suggest work that isn't needed) also too it can save that awkward situation where by the customer returns to pick up their shoes and then upon inspecting the repair I have made suddenly sees something else wrong and then come at you with the "They were not like that when they came in" situation. However if I find something wrong with the shoes which I might have missed on initial inspection then depending on the problem I may fix it free of charge and make the customer I have done so when they collect or in some cases I leave the shoes un repaired and point out the problem to the customer and allow them to decide wether they want to meet the extra expence. How many of you are getting caught out with perished units at the moment Have to admit I am seeing no end of them at the moment.
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Very good logic there Andy, to those who dont examine closely you may get hit with the usual "that was not like that when I brought them in". On a more serious note just look on your shelves and look at each pair of shoes awaiting collection and add up the extra cash you would have got if you had done all the jobs you found needing to be done that the customer did not ask for. How many of you never tell the customers about the toes on Stiletto's, yet I guarantee every Stiletto word down will have worn out toes, scuffed heel covers or scuffed toes and stinky slimey insocks, yuo could get at least one of these jobs if you showed concern about the problems to the customer. I get 5 a day like this, use your customer care skills never charge for putting others work right or make any nasty comments, let the customers do that. x minit

ironplanet uk900
I would put the other repairers work right, if no materials were needed. I would mention the bad repair, but not the repairer, they already know who they are! We always explain to our customer exactly what we have done to thier shoes. Tell them what a quality job you have done and ask if they are ok for them
