Sidpicks
According to Ultion there is no difference between the 3 * plus and the WXM but I’ve cut some keys for what I thought was WXM cylinder (code X on key) on the new Silca ULT1 keys and the profile is very slightly different. Enough to stop the key from entering the cylinder. Anyone aware of another WXM profile? Caught me out as they look identical. Original key had a 7 moulded into the bow on the same side as the X reference number. Be interesting to see if they have changed due to the release of the keyblank. Thanks in advance. grahamparker
These blanks are tricky to use, they tilt in my Triax jaw so we have to make sure by eye they are level. Had 5 failures out of 20 so far. But managed to get some genuine blanks despite Brisant being the biggest bunch or arseholes on the planet and they all work first time. Azaloid
Any ULTION keys with WXM are the old style and on the head of the original key they will have an X code and the WXM trademark which depicts the actual profile. The new 3* plus key will not have WXM on the head as the profile no longer looks like WXM occasionally it will have a number 7 on the head as well. New blank's like the TX-22 will bypass both blanks. The SILCA ULT1 is a near exact copy of the WXM and will not fit in the ULTION 3* plus cylinders.
Sidpicks
Thanks both! I’ve had a mare with futura updates so as soon as it was done I rushed to get these keys cut, didn’t even look, just assumed. Thanks for the info, very much appreciated
grahamparker
The 7 is now missing on the new blanks, best way to check is by code. Anything starting X22 is most likely the new profile. It is easy to spot if you have one of each key to compare the old and new profile.
