City Cobbler Portsmouth
Hi We have the Keyline 994 Automatic Laser cutting machine. For some reason we are having the problem of the end of keys breaking as the metal left is too thin. I have calibrated the machine so it is at the right depth but for some reason when cutting Citroen and Peugeot keys i am having this issue. Does anybody else have or had the same issue and knows of why this is happening?? Thanks
Mark Davis
I wasnt aware there is any way to calibrate the height on this machine, you drop the cutter onto the round metal spot on the jaw then tighten?...................if its still cutting to deep after doing this put a feeler gauge under the cutter before tightening? City Cobbler Portsmouth
I thought the same thing.... when i added the new drill bit i did it in the way your supposed to from the top with the special patented tool but it still seems to cut "some" keys too deep and the centre of the keys just break. Although the keys seem to work still??
Andy G7
I use a small slither of mica on mine just to raise it a fraction as it does this on mine, normally HU100.
autolock
I've had this problem and I put a piece of steel shim on the spot ,then install cutter and it works fine ,doesn't need much

LOCKED-IN
Some keys can do this Either swarf under Or the tolerance on after market keys You might have some non genuine cutters do this But try setting up with the least used jaw (grey) thourly clean jaw and seat of jaw when removed this brake cleaner You can also use paper just to adjust thickness under cutter
City Cobbler Portsmouth
Thanks for all the comments guys!!! I thought it was more than likely dodgy aftermarket blanks or cutters. but wanted to be sure.
