1st one would have been £55.00 + vat, 2nd one would have been approx £165- 185 depending on time + cylinder + vat.

we should all be working on about £96-00 per hour - my calculation on this is this is what main car and motorbike dealer's are now charging and i beleive we are 'as skilled' in all our different skills

  • 2 weeks later...

£65 + vat for work inc revisit + parts, we don't travel more than 20 miles unless its a commercial job. Auto is larger radius and higher cost due to knowledge and kit on vehicles to complete the job.

Out of hours 5pm+ is £50 extra bulk is paid direct to our (full time) engineers as a bonus on call if they want to do the job - they are not obliged to attend, you have to factor in all sorts of idiots who can threaten your guys, It's not worth it for most established businesses - so I say 'well played' to those who are prepared to visit a drunk fool @ 1am, and you deserve £200+ for the effort/risk etc

Auto work is not charged by the hour.... ^^ locksafe your comment made me laugh

I do try...

I agree with you 100% you made me laugh as your reply was exactly my common sense policy. Too many 'pretend auto have a go eBay boys' who have no idea when things don't go to 'youtube' plan and they kill the car - no insurance either....no consumer come back, no ALA or MLA assurance.
