Landis model 12L outsole stitcher question

Recommended Posts

Hello m8's,

Fairly new to the shoe repair biz. I'm a leather craftsman and once my dad had a stroke 3 years ago I have joined up with him. even moved back to my hometown in usa from Italy.

My question is: I'm having problems stitching vibram soles 100 and 430 with this landis 12l my dad said he use to always do it before with no problem. I have been braking Barbour 6 cord and loose stitching when trying to stitch them on. Is there some setting I'm doing wrong? Is 6 cord too thick for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all!

I'm not familiar with your machine. But if possible reduce pressure foot tension and increase the length of the stitch, also give the sole a wipe with one of those silicone sponge jobbies, works for me on a Victor. I just take one spring off.

Argy is along the right lines, the Landis is very similar to our Goodyear machines. I would first try wiping the edge of the sole where the presser foot sits with some lubricant like washing up liquid or spray. Some outsoles also have a presser foot height adjuster, if you have one then try adjusting the foot a little higher. Most times though the lubricant trick works
