Lee
And make no mistake people, Dean has put everything into getting to the world championships. He might be one of "us" by day, But the rest of the time he trains... morning & night. I've watched his rapid rise up the rankings. I've also chatted daily in the chat room about the good, the bad & the ugly..... could you IMAGINE being in the lead for the very first time......... following the van with the timer, after MONTHS of training only for it to go the WRONG way! Ironman is not all about the race, its about how strong a character you are between the finish line & the next start line. when its cold & you go out running, when its raining & you go out biking, when your beds nice & warm & you head to the pool. In the Ironman community the professionals race along side what are affectionately known as the age groupers, each age group has "slots" (maybe 2-3 per group, depending in numbers) for the world championships. An ironman is like no other single day endurance event, it has the worlds fittest people in its line up, people who train every day of their lives, often rank high or win local & national events with the holly grail & dream for everyone off them to rank high enough for a slot to kona. Deans achievement is monumental by any triathletes standards, It brings out the emotion in me just writing this I wish him good luck & good speed. Lee I sponsor as some of you know "Jodie Stimpson" who is a GB athlete I was so impressed (some 12 years ago) with her dedication to her sport I found a way of helping her and have enjoyed following her achievements since , years of training and commitment with as a youngster following strict diet and lifestyle was a breath of fresh air instead of the youth that call into our shops smoking, drugs etc, But Dean is the same except full time working in our industry so full credit and I wish him the very best and hope that thru our forum with the hope that some of us can help in any way to fulfil his dream.
