Simes
I have had a pair of gents Loakes that I had repaired with a resin half sole brought back because they are now too uncomfortable to wear. The problem seems to lie in the fact that the insole has shaped to the customers foot but the action of adding a new rigid half sole now emphasises the moulding of the foot to the insole makiN them feel lumpy. I wonder what you do to over come this? I have stripped them back now and I'm trying to flatten the insole, but wonder if you have any tips? Gray
I concur. If you haven't any cork filling, cut a pair of cheap sponge insoles to size to replace the cork.
Simes
Yes they were re-corked when I did them. I always re-cork them. I'll just have to flatten the insole best I can and re-re-cork them lol

damen.rudi
I had this problem a few years ago. The leather insole has taken the shape of the foot. My solution was to wet the insoles and while wet I did press the shoe for a little while. Take care to take a pressplate that's large enough. Hopely this can help. AcremanS
Whenever I re-cork, I always allow a little dip in the cork where this ridge is....of course plenty everywhere else. When the customer wears them, the cork will eventually re-mould to his feet anyway; but until then, there isn't a solid ridge digging into his toes. Never had a complaint about it
Simes
Thanks for the suggestions. Customer has taken them away and says they are much better. He's going to MAN UP and see what happens
