k4mrc
we have a customer who in the past has bought a Push button combination lock for an office block, the problem is whichever type he uses they do not seem to last very long? he has called us out a couple of times in the past where the lock has just given up, sometimes we have fixed them and more than often just replaced like for like. The door is used ALL day long, and probaby about 400 or more times.. My question is - is there a 'Very Heavy Duty' one available, that could have a 5 or 10 year warranty? that really is HEAVY duty? locksnstuff
For high usage I use the Kaba 1000 series, have fitted them on Post Offices etc with really high usage and dont give any bother, they generally get 5+ years out of them. http://www.kaba-ilco.com/kaba-access-co ... -1000.html
Mike Whale
I would also recommend KABA. They are very heavy duty. However, they're not cheap and usaully come with a 3year warranty (maximum). I think you's struggle to buy anything with a 5year warranty IMO. grahamparker
Kaba 1000 is the best mechanical on the market. Codelock 200 series are great and they come with a lifetime guarantee (not wear and tear) they are good for light to medium use. They have a freephone number and will send spares out f.o.c. if you they know you are a retailer. And if you return a unit to them they will repair and send it back so it only costs the postage charge to send them the unit. The new codelock 600 series is also worth considering and we are now supplying these to the local nhs as a cheaper option than a kaba 1000 series. For heavy duty 50+ openings a day then you do need to be using the 1000 series. They are expensive but if fitted correctly will give a good few years of trouble free operation. There is also a repair kit available which includes the return spring, code chamber, clutch and a few other components. When supplying always ask if there is a door closer fitted and make sure it operates correctly as it doesn't matter how good a digital door lock is if the closer is smashing the door into the frame every time it closes it will not last very long at all. I sell approx 100 codelocks every year and the backup from the manufacturers is about the best i have come across. For the usage you need then a kaba 1000 is the only unit i would recommend. Growster
The Paxton easyprox compact comes in a version with a keypad rather than a fob reader. It's battery driven, should cost a bit less than the Unican and Paxton have a better returns policy than Kaba. I have no personal experience with this lock's longevity. grahamparker
Had some serious issue with the batteries on paxton easyprox, had 1 customer who bought 3 units who removed them after 7 battery changes inside 18 months. This has supposedly been fixed and paxton where very helpfull but i lost faith in the easyprox range.
