VAG pre-coding equipment

Recommended Posts

Hi

not quite sure if this is the correct section but wasn't too sure which 1 to put it in.

I'm wanting to get equipment to enable to me to pre-code VAG CAN transponders. I've just bought an AD900 Pro to do the actual pre-coding part but now i need to get something that's read the 7 bytes of data from the car.

Are there any other options available other than MVP Pro & AD100 Pro? I'll happily settle for some form of laptop based software if it works out cheaper than the AD machines & i can still use it with the AD900 Pro

Oh & i currently use genuine Ross-Tech VCDS for my VAG jobs

thanks

Craig

where is it going?

i was only asking for info/advice to try find out if there's anything else on the market that can be used to precode VAG CAN transponders that I can eventually buy once i''ve saved up enough cash. I've only recently bought a new AD900 Pro & an An-san Panther laser machine so won't be in a postion to buy any other equipment for a good few months

why?

In my opinion, when talking about tools that I believe should only be sold too the Trade, they should be talked about in the Trade area.

I'm not saying anyone here does this, but, It stops people sucking info off of here and opening up on the boot sales.

They'll all be open next month.

I don't see why tools etc should only be limited to being sold to people in the trade. If the public want to buy something to help them fix their own cars then i'm all for that. Ok so it takes away potential customers but it doesn't bother me, it's not as if everybody is going to go out & start buying dealer type software such as VCDS etc.

Before i got into the trade I had my own track car & did most of the work myself. Even as far as having a stand alone ECU fitted that I could live remap myself with my laptop & air fuel ratio meter etc fitted to the dash. Cars are a big hobby of mine & I certainly wasn't prepared to spend £400-£500 every time I wanted it live remapping after i'd changed the cams or done some other work.

People I find that want to keep equipment away from the public are just greedy & don't like sharing! :D

VAG-CAN is widely available to the public on the internet.

I've been looking for a new car (hopefully! [-o< ) and on a UK forum for Audi RS4 owners, a lot of people buy them to clear fault codes and make adjustments to the driver information system.

There's all sorts of clones on ebay that can be bought for as little as £20 which you probably have seen anyways. My VCDS cost me £280 from Ilexa who are the UK distributer for Ross-Tech. It's a handy bit of kit to have as there isn't much it doesn't do with VAG cars. Before i adapt a key I always do a full diagnostic scan. You also get telephone support Mon-Fri 9-5pm, unlike with the clones

Customers are always happy because they think they're gonna get charged extra but i don't add anything on. It's just part of the service. I do the same even if i'm just servicing a car as I usually reset service interval with it anyway so may as well do full scan while it's connected to the car

That's the website evryone seems to get it from.

If I get an RS4 then I'll definitely be buying it :D :D

Hopefully 2007 saloon, I'm just hesitant because of the running costs.

My Impreza WR1 is costing quite a bit in petrol, road tax and servicing costs and I think the RS4 will be more. #-o

Might just go for a 2008-2010 ordinary A4 saloon for a while until RS4 prices drop a bit. 8-[

yeh my mate said the RS6 cost him a fortune to run. Even more than the M3 & Carrera 4 he had before it.

I've had an Impreza & that wasn't too bad to run considering. Had a 363bhp Evo V after that & I didn't think that was too bad to run neither. Probably helps that i do most of my own maintenance & used to get my oil for free the the 4k oil change wasn't an issue.

We're just down to my van & the Mrs' astra now as we've both only just recently set up on our own so got rid of the nice cars to buy work equipment. The astra is going soon though as we could do with something bigger. Either a 3 series or an A4. Thinking about going back to petrol & fitting an LPG kit. Still undecided though as BMW & Audi both do nice 3.0 diesels engines I can remap. A mate has got a 335d coupe. I'm remapping it for him once the warranty runs out. That thing flies anyway. Supposed to do over 180mph once deristricted & remapped! He'll prbably do it as well as he's not quite right in the head :D
