tommy
Hi Guys, I'm having a problem with my singer 29K71. The handle is intermittently, spinning round, but not driving the machine. The wheel turns but nothing else moves as if it is disconnected then it will start and run no problem. I have oiled all the points the manual suggests but do not want to start stripping it down if I do not have to. I have a 29K15 spare which runs fine but there are no threads in the feet to attach it to the treadle so I am a bit worried about it falling off. Thanks Tommy
petercoulson
Not quite sure of your problem but try these common faults first: the hand wheel is held on to the driver collar with one big headed screw, this collar has 2 grub screws around the side. make sure these are tight. if the are tight and the shaft is driving it is probable that a sheer pin holding the little drive gear inside the machine has broken. nightmare. Best to take the hand wheel off your spare machine (remove wheel then remove the collar and gear by taking out the 3 screws that hold it on)
tommy
Does not sound good then, the whole shaft turns no problem, the wheel is not loose. Cheers Tommy

tommy
Hi Windy, Well, she has not been back, so I assume the combo of yellow primer and 2 coats of 50/50 and a loan of a friends press seems to have worked. Cheers Tommy

Cheers Tommy Interesting how handy a press has been in this instance, many believe they can do without one, with modern materials and adhesives
