chrisorros
Have had a sudden surge of people requesting a price list to take home in the last month. (Normally once or twice a year at most.) I tell customer i have a price list on the counter what gives you the basics. Rh / Lh / Ls /Ls & Rh ect ect but explain that all shoes need different jobs / materials & as sometimes shoes need build up, rewelting, linings ect ect and its always best to bring the shoes in for me to have a look to see what jobs need to done in my opion to give a price for the job needs to done to do the job right. Normally people are happy with this explaintion and thats that. In this month this explaintion isn't enough. This process has worked very well for the last decade or so. Am i behind the times with this?
Count Muppet
No, carry on as you are. You can't give prices unless you see the item. Even if you give them a "from" figure they expect it to be that price.
Lee
I have a very basic & crude A4 sheet folded into 3 which I print straight from the computer, that way I only print a handful at a time & can adjust the prices as & when I alter things. I've had these on the counter for years & they work well, even printed DIY! Lee
StevenB
It's also a good opportunity to promote all your other services, not just shoe repairs...
shoemender1
I agree with wageslave,i have a pricelist that says from £---- it never leaves the counter.I will only quote a price on seeing the repair because far to many times customers said you said heels are £--- when they bring them in you have to do a rebuild and they do not expect to be charged for this.I will not also quote over the phone for the same reason. How many customers have phoned asking how much is a yale or chubb key, meaning a cylinder or mortice really, and the worst one my car key has not got a chip inside it (because it has no buttons) so expect to get a key for £5.I have a A5 sheet with all my services which hand out without any prices on it.
