StevenB
Is there a function that you'd like in your engraving software that it doesn't currently have? If so, post it here, the people that matter do read this stuff you know...
Gray
Yes. Automatic font recognition and sizing by way of a tiny camera just to the side of the diamond so I don't have to measure everything on anals to get them the same..................Big ask that aint it. Michael
Don't some of the G***o machines have a laser that shows how the engraving will look? Would be a great (and bloody expensive no doubt) add on to have. I would also like someone to make a laser pointer the same size as a cutter so I could use the measure plate function more accurately. Michael
I actually made one of my own with a spare diamond, my smooth bandscourer, steady hands and a good eye. But a laser would be WWAAAAYYY CCCCOOOOLLL!!
StevenB
What I would like to see is an alternative to the 'measure plate' function. A 'measure polygon' function, if you like. When you get an item with an odd shaped space in which to insert the engraving, to be able to drop the cutter around it at an unspecified number of points to follow the shape would be an absolute godsend. I did a penknife this morning where I had a thin strip on the edge of the blade in which to insert the engraving. It was about 4mm wide one end, tapering to about 2½mm the other, the edges were slightly curved - and it sat in the machine at an angle of about 45 degrees off straight. An absolute nightmare. If I could have told the machine where the edges of the engraving were & known for sure it would engrave in the right place, it would have been a doddle. Michael
Would also work well for those little banners you get on frames and certificate holders that are not straight. You could mark points around the shape and then join them up to form a closed shape. Would be a more elaborate version of the "read reference position (or shift+alt+4 for Steven ). Gray
So like the depth profile but in a horizontal flat stylee. I could see that coming in very handy.
Michael
Could be called " mark position as node" F*****g Genius!!
Lee
A mini Andy droid, with a self adhesive sticker on his feet, so I could stick him next to the esc button. Tap him on the head & Blue tooth what you need to the software.
ANDY
A mini Andy droid, with a self adhesive sticker on his feet, so I could stick him next to the esc button. Tap him on the head & Blue tooth what you need to the software. like a glenway bobble head trophy lol... just slap me round the fizzog and voila a simpler version of welshy's idea imagine a weeny camera underneath near your diamond that could take an accurate snap shot of whatever you are engraving this transfers onto the pc screen and you can overlay your text in the correct position.....hoh genius they have mini projectors in digi cameras these days maybe this could work backwards too, once you have your engraving ready it could project a picture onto your job we could call it "snap n scratch" this could work with annuals too, we could call it "anal assist"
