Gray
I have a strange problem developed this morning with my machine. When I switch the brushes on it makes an almighty clonk. Sounds to be coming from behind the brushes. Belt tension seems OK. Brushes working. Clonks when I rotate the brushes and clonks when I put any load on them. Any ideas? keithm
Are the brushes Electric or Manual? Could be a loose pulley?
Gray
Manual Keith. Loose pulley on the motor?. They all seem Ok on the brushes. Is there any sort of belt tensioner?
keithm
More likely to be motor mounts though. Give us a call if you need some. If the machines as old as you appear to be, then the rubbers perished and you would be advised to replace all 4. Gray
Cheeky bugger. Thanks for the advice Keith. I'll take a look this weekend if I can squeeze my old body round the back of the machine. Don't fancy moving it out on my own.
petercoulson
There is a tensioner but it is at the top, open the tinwork and lift up then you can see the tensioner behind the brushes at the top, sounds more like the motor joints though. put doing these off too long and you will regret it
Gray
Thanks Peter can I access through the front by removing the plates behind the brushes to save ending up with my testicles behind my ears by trying to move the machine out from the wall
petercoulson
Joints only from back, jam a large screwdriver under the front cornerof the machine and it will glide almost effortlessly to gain access. You can leave the testes in their jar.
Gray
Which corner and what type of screwdriver? lol..............I think I'll rely on the tried and trusted method of... "round moving heavy stuff around rollers"... which are in the cellar somewhere. Lee
My machine is a broom head width away from the wall, if you've got the room, leave it out a little more then you can pick up the bits that fall behind it. You going be painting it today? Lee
