kastanza
My business is sports related rather than gift and shoe repairs, and in an effort to make the engraving side of things a little less reliant on trophies, i was toying with the idea of stocking some Zippo lighters.... i was wondering if forum users had any pointers.... what main models sell best, are they 'fast' sellers, quantities, what to avoid etc.. feedback appreciated. Count Muppet
main ones to sell are the plain ones, which can then be engraved. if the customer wants anything unusual they can always place an order with you after looking in your catalogue. Mick Friend
do serious sportsmen smoke then? I used to but under here it's terrible - mind you the aroma of digested beans.......... seriously I would have thought that sports related would mean no smokers, is it worth stocking lighters? kastanza
All will become clear: I'm in the Snooker and Darts side of 'sport'. So fags and booze is still part of the training regime. I was trying to come up with ways to offer more outlets for our engraving service. Gifts and jewellry wouldnt really be in keeping with our displays - but i thought the zippo's might go. Probably worth getting a few in as suggested just to test the waters. Best suppliers - Charles Birch?

Rizla
You say: "I'm in the Snooker and Darts side of 'sport'. So fags and booze is still part of the training regime" Then I'm sure you know they all 'mostly' have ego's that run a mile high I know as I do some work for a dart's promo company. I have only ever stocked the plain chrome zippos for almost 5yrs and the customer can have whatever they like on it Etc... Blah! Sometimes they stand bemused stating they wanted 'a certain drinks logo' and I say no prob... We actually put what ever you want on them!! Don' ya love 'em? Back to the 'ego' why not get your hands on a cheap MPX (Metaza) and engrave a photo of them "throwing a dart" "Holding the winning trophy" Etc Etc... They fall for it every time and it's a good quick job with a good profit! Just a thought! Rizla

Jay
Get some gift boxes in aswell, id say 75% of customers will have one if you offer it with every zippo sale
Forest Cobbler
We stock a wide range of Zippos and they sell really well, but the High Polished Chrome are by far our best sellers, particularly if the customer wants a club logo or other artwork engraved.
