ironplanet uk900
Persist with your case knife if there is a recess, because thats the proper way.
Lee
1st option has to be a case back opener like the one pictured (top) this ones an Elma case opener. But the second option & one I've used to good effect on the rare occasions when all else fails is to use a clock hand removal tool. these have a nice rocker curve on the back of them & you get a lot of leverage when the case knife sometimes fails. discodave
if anyone has trouble opening the back of a watch just get a stanley blade and a wooden hammer and gently tap it into the lip works every time. just dont let your customer see you do this cos they wont understand. remember to wrap the watch in a cloth though

Forest Cobbler
We have, in the past, used a thin edged screwdriver, rather than a stanley blade, and a hammer on reluctant watch backs (having first sent the customer off to finish their shopping). But since we purchased an opener from Apollo that is similar to the Elma one, we have not had to resort to this rather scary technique. And I value my fingers far too much to use a scalpel, just the thought makes me go cold. Valerie
