Rizla
Hi, could anyone point me to a good source of EPS graphics that I could use with my GEM RX I know of Brands Of The World for logo's but could do with a library of other subjects. Michael
I've got this one only the 800,000 version. It's great for clip art to engrave.
Gravograph_John
Is there anything in particular you are looking for? I have 19.889 files in EPS or AI format!!!!! as you said, www.brandsoftheworld.com is also a good idea to start as has quite a lot of images there...and again, members of this site always seem willing to help! Rizla
Never gave PC World a thought LOL Thanks for the info, I'll check them out.
busy bee
I have a set of CD's (bought from PC world) called Art Explosion. It cost about £60.00, but there are 34 CD's in the set, and there's supposed to be 800,000 images. Not all are EPS format, but it's been a godsend for me, most can be put into wireframe, then you can send to gravograph, for engraving without any further delay. Brilliant! Graham
ebay also seem to have a million people offering hooky copies of logos for a couple of quid, but to be honest, I think most things are easily available on the net for nothing somewhere or another - even if it's just asking on various forums related to artwork, most people are happy to share. Here's another couple of sites that come in handy http://www.allfreelogo.com/ http://www.gmkfreelogos.com/
ihadlegs
if you would like any graphic files converted to EPS give me a nudge and I would be more than happy to oblige. What type of EPS file do these machines prefer? There are many options. There is free software out there that I would be more than happy to explain how to download and use to convert any graphic to .EPS format.

ihadlegs
Why not do a tutorial on it. Then everyone can learn from it I'm not sure I am qualified to write a proper tutorial, as although graphics are my 'thing' I am not familiar with exactly what the images should be like for engraving purposes>?? I am just assuming here, machines operate with black and white images, removing material that is black; and more advanced machines operate with greyscales, removing material at varying depths according to the 'darkness' of the black... If this is the case then I'd be more than happy to write a brief tutorial!! If not... Wheres me coat...

busy bee
It is very kind of you to offer this tutorial. The engraving machines need everything to be converted to wireframe (as they only read lines, not pixels or dots) so we have to simplify everything. Sometimes we want to "fill" an area that may have been black in the original graphic. This has to be separate and complete so we can pick it out and machine it. When I get a logo/badge in to engrave, first thing I do is convert it to black & white, and see what I have left!
ihadlegs
Don't forget to turn the light off. hahahaha saving that pic has one been??? :P Perhaps it should be engraved... When I get a logo/badge in to engrave, first thing I do is convert it to black & white, and see what I have left! Well the programme I was going to recommend is called GIMP - a freely distributed graphics program... http://download.softpedia.com/dl/98892b118a25eaf9f7e6cd0da5ce4a55/46f99baa/100005446/software/multimedia/graphic/gimp-2.2.16-i586-setup.exe (or google for gimp if you run a mac...) now on its own it can convert files to black and white but with extentions it can then be used to create vector (wireframe) drawings... From what you're saying busy bee, the actual image would need editing - ie you have to use personal judgement - anyway... anyone want to post an image - thats needs doing... ??? busy bee
Well I've had a look at the website, but with my limited knowledge, didn't like to download anything, yet. I use CorelDraw, I have the X3 graphic version at the moment, this is the best one I've had, although I know a lot of people don't get on with CorelDraw at all. But you are right, we have to use our own judgement, and change/delete things to suit the engraving machines' capabilities. I will try to send you an idea of what we do, but gravograph use .vnd files and when you convert them to .eps or .plt files, you lose a lot of your hard work! Guest Iain Cheall
I downloaded it but it wouldn't install as the files were corrupt. I use Jasc Paintshop Pro for editing into a .jpg then let gravo do its worst works for me
Lee
I've downloaded it too, and it works fine. Just got to figure it all out now! Lee
busy bee
I have asked ihadlegs to do a logo for me, and he sent it back, pronto, in EPS form. Oh, and it's great! Thank you ihadlegs!
