Hee hee knew that would get you to look. As most of you know it's been said more than once here that I am too cheap so I have took a pic or 2 of a job I am doing and before I say what I am charging I want you lot to give me your price.

I promise I won't cheat but if you like I will pm Hugh with my price before we go further and he can referee this.

It is a 6" by 3" 1.5mm brass plate, 2 fixing holes screws with coned cap screws (from Mastergrave) and a backing board.

Engraved with 65 letters forming 8 words and a number over 4 lines.

Well at first I thought £10.00 would be fair.

But on second thoughts £20.00 is a good price anyway as it's taking up valuable time on the machine and I bet thats used up a fair amount of paint too!

The backing board I am using for this job is a piece made by a local cancer sufferer who makes wooden toys for charity and made a load of backing boards for us with the off cuts for which we donated to his charity.

Its a Japanese hardwood and he imported the tree for a project.

I don't dry my paint on the radiator it was just on there to get the sunlight for the picture :)

I used 2 teaspoons of blue paint and a teaspoon of white mixed to get the shade of blue and had loads left over so it didn't need that much to paint.

As for the capitols as far as I can see its a free world and if a bloke wants to use lower case letters in his company name then he is welcome to.

You may have noticed that on the plate there isn't much room to place the holes in a central and symetrical design. So as per my customers wishes one is going in the bottom left corner and one is going on the right in between his logo and the writing and it will be placed so that there is about 2mm clearence from each with the screw cap. I will post another pic tomorrow when I have drilled them.

looks like my price is about right. I don't think many more are going to post here so I will reveal my price in with the pic.

my price £53.00

so I think we can agree we are all singing off similar hymn sheets if not the same one

Lee £67.80

UK900/Dean £58.15

Iain £53

Tel200 £52.50

samtheman £49

KJ soloutions £45

Mind nearly ruined the whole thing beveling it, I slipped and took a chunk out along the top edge, cut it off with the guilotine and rebevelled it

Looking at the way you do your prices Lee I think I like the idea, its quite straight forward. Kev

As I have said many times I hate doing brass, My price is this straight forward to that if I don't make the plaque myself or its too big for my machine I still make a reasonable profit from a "trade" source.

Brass 60p per sq inch

Engraving 60p per Digit

This was a great way of doing this topic Iain, its proved interesting.
