Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
What's that load of crap all about uk900, seems to me to be just a waste of someones time. Can we get to talk and argue about a subject that has some substance to it as I'm sure the old or new members are not interested in tit for tat. The number of posts of a similiar nature suggest you are stalking me, if you have a fixation on be because your wife left then please just say so, no need to beat about the bush as they say in Rara Tonga, I'm sure we would make a lovely couple. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Ah but weve seen your legs Rick Would love a curry but I am unsure of your motive at this moment, my mum always said good girls dont give men anything to eat on their first date. I think you just want to get your hands up my apron so I'll show you my "Goodyear Stitcher". Must warn you that's Awl you'll get so dont keep Needling me to get me on the Table as I dont like Welts on me bum. Just had a thought, came right from the back of my storage box, so far back it is still hurting. Not too clear but here goes. A bloke I know but at the moment cant remember who, gets a contact in China/Tiawan to copy parts, cant remember what part either but it only takes a couple of weeks and its a dirt cheap service. Now if I can come up with the details it may just be a way out of obtaining the unobtainable as far as Goodyears go.
ironplanet uk900
Fetched a K&B outsoler from an old bloke in Tunstal Staffordshire, I gave him £50 for it. What a Bargain, It stitches beautifully.. I didn't really need it but he was gunna throw it in the skip The guy is retirering after 61 years an Independant. His shop was like summat out the ark, It was like walking into a timewarp. He only did shoe repairs nowt else. He was 80 years of age, and said he didn't want to retire, but he was afraid he might become ill and leave his wife with the problem of clearing the shop out, which he owns. shame really... Another one of the old school gone forever.

Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Hugh if you know someone with contacts in china we would be interested in costing some spares for goodyears My mind if full to bursting point of all sorts of Magic and this bit hurts cos i cant access the whole event. Bits of it keep popping up and Drag knives were the starting point, it happened when you could not get them here. I will try asking others next week to see if they can remember who it was. ironplanet uk900
It was the bloke just outside the town, I think his name was Bill, Can't be sure though. Just remembered, It was Kenneth, Dunno his Sir name. Yes it was Ken on the main road, been there for many years. Last time I passed I thought he must be due to retire. Cant just remember his last name also, Ken Durose keeps popping up but that was the guy on the other side of the road (Locksmith). It will come to me shortly. Some 1st class repairers came from that area years ago. Trevor Jones from Tunstall won the national comp some years back. Bet that K&B although old has not had too much wear, not a heavily built up area and out of town for everyday shoppers. The head of the K&B is in mint condition, The base has tons of wax down the back of it,, Soon clean it up though. Bargain
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Why keep the base!! Just dump it and change the head to your existing base. Unless yer thinking of doing something daft and selling it. Table alone must be worth over £
ironplanet uk900
I'm Taking over a business at the end of the week, It has a Victor I hate them. So I'll swap them over after I've renovated the K&B in my garage. It will clean up easily I wouldn't sell it, cus it's a little cracker,, But if anyones intested in the Victor, I might put it in the auction
petercoulson
be very careful cleaning the machine, if i were you i would leave the head alone as a lot of the wax and crap helps keep them in good nick. i have been out more than once to people who decided to clean their stitcher heads and got them immaculate but no longer able to stitch mainly because the crap was cleaned from the gears etc and the real amount of play in them shows and timing is poor from there on. Thank's Peter, The head is Spottless, doesn't really need alot of attention. The only thing is, the old guy completely stripped the motor and put all the bits in a box He said it will make it easier to move I think I'll be ok putting it back together though. How much would a new motor cost Peter
petercoulson
if you are going to have to buy a new motor it is best not to ask us the price!! we sell excellent and very reliable motors at a cost of £255.00 +VAT the goodyears have imperial shafts so you cannot just replace the motor. your best bet is someone like machine mart who sell 1 and 3ph motors very cheaply (£100 ish)- no good for hard working machines but good for stitchers which are used every day but not all day. you can then get a pulley to match but only a v section one (sometimes the machines are flat belted pulleys, if this is the case then you are looking at buying a motor and having to resize the pulley bore to match). if you buy a new motor then all you have to check is the motor speed (1400 or 2800) and power (0.75 or 1.1kw should be enough) and get the pulley diameter as close to the original as possible or just smaller but not bigger. you may need a new starter as well
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
This guy worked in a very tiny comunity and would not have done the work volume to justify the wear that is normally seen Peter, I know him. I did a similiar exersize about 8 years ago and changed the motor from 3 phase to a single phase one from Machine Mart for about £30, mounted it on a plate at the back centre of the stand. Yes it was a good find. I only brought an outsoler 3/4 weeks ago, off a repairer who prefers to blake all his soles on I don't think he new I was the dreaded uk900 when he told me. Paid £2300.00 for it. Standard Head in a modern new frame,, it's a cracker. I haven't claimed my bands yet Peter, I'll wait till I'm in my new shop as I've got plenty for my machine at the moment. Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
I got ,ine from Machine Mart and mounted it on a plate mid back column. cost about £30 at the time (long ago). Important to get the pulleys the right size otherwise it may just go so bloody fast it'll take off I did not need guards on mine as it was just for demonstration use on maintenance. Had a 3ph converter in the garage to test machines and that was before they came generally available to the trade. I got mine off an Engineer who bought his 3ph lathe when retiring to use in his garage, but just could not get the work he thought he was going to get. Bought if off him for £50 without realising the value.
